Netherlands creates history

Image
In almost all the countries across the globe, cell phones are not fully integrated with sim cards that allow you to change operators without removing the sim card as these are illegal. Netherlands has become the first country to legalize this. This concept of fully integrating  the cell phone with sim card helps expand the concept of internet of things. Now you may be thinking what is internet of things? The Internet of Things refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure. If all objects and people are assigned some identifiers then they can be detected and managed by computers. Thus, when carrier free sim cards are integrated in the cell phone then the customer can change the carrier according to their requirement.

MH370 goes missing

Image
MH370 went missing on 8th March,2014 with 239 people on board while flying from Kuala Lampur to Beijing.Malaysian authorities say that the last signal from the plane was received at around 1:07 am via the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), an automated system that relays performance data about each flight (including turbulence, fuel usage and any maintenance concerns) to the airline. After some time (around 40 minutes) the plane's transponder stopped transmitting and the ground control center lost contact with the plane. The plane was last traced at northern part of the Strait of Malacca and the last signal received was "All right,Good night" which was spoken by the co-pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid.    Since then many countries have joined hands with malaysia in their search operation for the plane. But no traces of the plane have been found so far. Many theories have risen to explain how the plane went missing. The missing MH370 included pa...

A brush with the real paradise

Image
It was nearly year and a half since I last visited Kashmir . I   was in search of a good reason and as luck would have it, we were granted a month’s vacation .Those days my dad was posted in kupwara ,a remote town in northern Kashmir.I persuaded him to let me stretch my legs there and luckily he agreed.Soon I was out of Bengal and was touching the last strains of Delhi. Two hours later and a flight ,I was stepping on the pavement of Srinagar airport.I was welcomed by an army officer who escorted me to a bullet proof car which was headed by a mobile radar jammer,QRT(Quick Response Team) and three heavily armoredjawans on top! I was   soon heading towards Kupwara,my holiday home.It was ,and still   is,one of the hot beds of all counter-insurgency operations.Moments   flew by and we were zipping past picturesque towns of the valley and several apple orchards. One could easily identify the uniqueness and distinct panache of the natives and the Pathan suit lad...

Coin- A technology

Image
A US technology firm came up with a small device approx. the size of a coin which help detect lost things if and only if the device have been attached to the lost object. The device can be attached with anything from cars to wallet, from cellphones to small kids, i.e. it is compatible with anything in general. The device sends a low energy signal within a range of few 100ft. The firm also developed an app for the purpose. The technology offers radar screen that simply approximates the distance- but not yet the location - of all the paired Stick-N-Find stickers in range. The technology does not let us determine the direction of the lost items, so users have to start walking while watching the screen to see whether the device they are hunting for gets closer. T he designers call the Virtual Leash, allows users to set an alarm to sound whenever a sticker moves a predetermined distance from your phone. It also helps us locate any items that are out of range by sett...
